Our 2017 Lake Michigan fishing season is off to a slow start due to weather and rough seas. It’s not that the fish aren’t biting but the weather won’t let us get safely out to them.
Spring weather patterns have been producing north/northeast winds that are producing Cold temperatures (40’s) with strong winds and gusts in the 30-60 mph range.
When we can get off shore to fish we have to go into search mode before we can find the fish. This is usually time-consuming. Normally our go too network of captains/fish information is communicated to other captains making Fish location a lot easier.
Hopefully we will get back into more normal weather/calmer wind/ weather patterns and more pleasant fishing conditions.
Our customers usually Book their trips ahead of time knowing the variability of Lake Michigan weather. They also know that safety is our main consideration and that if we cancel trips we will refund your deposit or reschedule your trip, rather than take groups out in unsafe/ uncomfortable fishing conditions.
